For us, a tooth extraction is the last resort. Yes, it can be an incredibly simple process, but it can also lead to lasting function and cosmetic issues. And no one wants that. So, we do our best to try to keep your smile as it is.
There are times however when the Keys dental team feel that other treatment options aren’t likely to be successful. Whether it’s a planned extraction or an emergency, rest assured you are in good hands.
Depending on the complexity of your case, the extraction usually takes between 20 and 60 minutes. Yours might be a simple extraction or a more complex surgical extraction.
Either way our plan remains the same – to get you back to normal and full of smiles, however long it takes!
After a dental extraction, the teeth surrounding the area of your extraction can tip into the gap. This can affect your normal bite and chewing actions. If that happens, it can lead to jaw issues such as jaw joint, or TMJ.
Sometimes a tooth can get so infected extraction isn’t an option. In these instances, we’d usually prescribe an antibiotic to treat the infection first. Within two to three days, it should be safe for you to return to have the tooth removed.
No! We want to preserve the function of your teeth and prefer to avoid any possible cosmetic issues. So we have a choice of options which we can discuss with you, like dentures, bridges and implants.
Different people in different circumstances do require different solutions. We will discuss this with you and together we can determine which is likely to be the most successful solution for your case.
